Everyone talks a lot about running backs, but I’ve joined a second league now with 14 teams, so I’ll be drafting pretty deep on wide receivers.
This video has me looking for some preseason playmakers at WR. The catch by Dallas TE Rico Gathers has me wondering if he should fill Jason Witten’s shoes over Geoff Swaim or Blake Jarwin.
Speaking of TEs, I’m not ready to consider Austin Hooper. I’ve read a lot of buzz about this being a breakout year for him, but I can’t get on the hype train. Hooper averaged only 5.9 fantasy points last season, and appears to be boom or bust based on red zone targets.
One of my favorite NFL podcasts provides some great sleeper tips with the following WRs:
Chris Godwin | WR | TB
Kenny Golladay | WR | DET
Taywan Taylor | WR | TEN
Calvin Ridley | WR | ATL
Tre’Quan Smith | WR | NO
With the exception of Godwin, I can’t imagine taking any of them until very late rounds.
The preseason doesn’t tell us much about what to expect from teams, but individual players show who can eventually break out. One might recall Dak Prescott’s preseason QB performance. Of course over at Fantasy Pros they have a lot to say about sleepers.
Just some dude who geeks out on fantasy football.
